Do air source heat pumps need servicing?
To make sure that you can get the most out of your air source heat pump, you should look to get it serviced each year & maximise your system’s efficiency to keep your bills down.
This will not only mean that your heat pump is kept in good shape, but an up-to-date service history will keep your warranty valid. So, if something should go wrong, you may be able to get it repaired or replaced without extra cost.
A yearly service will also help you prolong the life of your heat pump. One of the biggest benefits of a heat pump is that it can last around 15-17 years or more if properly maintained.
In some cases, you may also need a regular service history to ensure you remain eligible for any Renewable Heat Incentive grant you may have received from the government.
What’s included in an air source heat pump service?
- A full visual check
- Temperature checks
- System checks (visual and diagnostic)
- All heating pipework checked for leaks
- Cleaning of internal components
- Check Refrigerant levels
- Electrical circuits test
- Professional advice on system set-up and product use
How much does it cost to fix a heat pump?
All manufacturers recommend you get your heat pump serviced each year as it can reduce the chance of an expensive breakdown. When it comes to the cost to fix a heat pump, figures vary wildly. Costs could be anywhere from £150 (i.e. electrical connection issue) – £2,000 (i.e. new compressor), depending on what the issue is.
The average heat pump repair cost is around £500 (i.e. new fan). O’Neil’s are best known as being specialists when it comes to servicing and repairs to heating appliances, having more than 30 years of experience. We always give priority to our maintenance customers, which will come in handy if your left without heating or hot water.
